BREAKING: Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye Emerges New Olowo Of Owo

A new traditional ruler for Owo kingdom on Friday emerged, he is Ogunoye Ajibade Gbadegesin.
Gbadegesin emerged as the new king after polling 14 out of the 15 votes cast by the kingmakers.Gbadegesin will be succeeding the late monarch of the town, Oba Victor Olateru Olagbegi and will be the 32nd  Olowo of Owo.

It would be recall that the Senior Omolowos have earlier shortlisted five names out of 18 aspirants from the Elewuokun Dynasty.

They are two from Ogunoye Royal House, two from Olateru-Olagbegi and one from Ajike Atanaye lineages.

It was also learnt that eighteen princes  from the Elewuokun Dynasty were penciled down for the screening exercise.

The President of the Senior Omolowos and Ojomoluda of Ijebu Owo, Oba Kofoworola Oladoyinbo Ojomo, had promised the exercise would be fair and transparent.

Oba Ojomo also appealed to the people to help the Omolowos make the selection process devoid of rancour and ill-feelings.

According to him, the town cannot progress in the midst of strife.

Meanwhile, speaking after his emergence, the new monarch said this would be the first time the selection of a monarch will be peaceful

He commended other contestants for their spirit of sportsmanship and promised to work with every stakeholders for the development of Owo Kingdom.

He assured the people of the kingdom that his reign would usher new development to the town.
