I Will Become Nigeria’s President After Buhari, Bakare Insists

Senior Pastor and Founder of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has reaffirmed that he would be next Nigeria’s president after the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari, declaring that his bid to occupying the exalted office was not an aspiration but an inspiration.

Bakare, whose video about the number one office in the land had gone viral where he said the president (Buhari) is number fifteenth president and he would be number sixteenth president, reaffirmed his claim on Sunday while addressing his congregation, after which he also addressed newsmen.

Bakare, who recalled that he already met the president in Abuja and told him that it was an inspiration from God, notwithstanding the concern that people were having about which political platform such would be realised.

This was just as he distanced himself from the current travails Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo was facing, maintaining that he enjoys a very cordial relationship with him, while praying that Osinbajo would laugh last.

“I went to Buhari and told him, you are no15, am no16,” he said, even as he said that some people were concerned about possibility of such declaration.

“Some people have asked: ‘What of if it doesn’t work?’ It is your opinion, if it works, we shall meet on the table,” he said.

Bakare, while setting record straight, cited some people in the Bible, including Joseph, David, among others who were favoured to rule the whole nation without any aspiration.

According to him, Joseph was brought from prison to become a prime minister of a nation, while David rose from being a shepherd boy to shepherd a whole nation.

Speaking further, Pastor Bakare recalled that even in contemporary history, President Gerald Ford of the United States of America was never in the reckoning when by divine intervention he was chosen to become the vice president following the resignation of Vice President Spiro Agnew, adding that a few months later, he became the president when President Richard Nixon was removed from office.

Besides, he said Jimmy Carter, who later became president of the United States was never in the reckoning when he became the candidate of the Democratic Party in 1976.

“All fingers are not equal, all shepherds are not equal. David as a shepherd was brought to shepherd a whole nation, how can someone now say how can a pastor be in politics and rule a country?” he queried.

“I would reach my goal and fulfil my destiny,” he firmly declared, adding: “I have something better for my country and it can still be better than this.”
